Sometimes I feel like my heart has this sort of pain or tightness in it. I am 27 years old. I’m in decent health, maybe like 25-30 lbs. overweight, but overall in decent health. Every now and then i might get these little weird feelings in my chest like right in my heart area around the lower part of my rib cage. it feels as if someone was poking my ribs with a sharp knife, but under the ribs not on the outside. I've often just thought it was like gas or something, but sometimes if worries me and makes me wonder if there is something actually going on with my heart maybe??? What do you think it could be with the little bit of information I have given you. I can't really afford to go see a doctor if it could be something really trivial, but if it seems like it could be dangerous then i am willing to go and see someone.

Answer:

Generally, cardiac related chest pain radiates from the center of the chest under the breastbone to your back, neck, jaw, shoulders and arms, especially your left arm. It usually lasts more than a few minutes, can come and go, and can vary in intensity . Cardiac chest pain is caused from the heart not getting enough oxygen so it is often accompanied by sweating, shortness of breath, weakness, dizziness, and nausea. This does not sound like what you are describing but even so there are always exceptions to the norm. It is much easier to tell that you do have cardiac symptoms than you do not. If you get checked out and find that it is nothing you will have spent money but will have gained peace of mind and if your symptoms are a warning sign of a cardiac issue the longer you wait the greater the risk. I know this is not a direct answer, but at the end of the day the only way to be certain is to get checked out by a MD.I might add that losing weight, even if you are in decent shape, would definitely be beneficial for your heart.
